In today’s message we’re encouraging the people of God in His order, and in His way of doing. In a time where anger and hate is the norm, God still says “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” Excellence and integrity are the rallying cry for them that love God and are the called according to His purpose. Everything, as it relates to the Church and the people of God, should be done decently and in order. As God’s children we should exemplify His character, Gal. 5:22, 23 (KJV): 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. His character is the fruit of our relationship with Him. We are to walk in the Spirit and not in our flesh. For many many years I have used Gal. 5:22, 23 to teach that the character of God should be priority in our faith walk. Gifts and talents will get us to places that our character won’t keep us if we’re not prepared for what comes with promotion. When the blessings of God come upon us, we’ve got to be mature enough to know how to carry ourselves mentally and emotionally in order to enjoy those blessings and not allow ourselves to forget where those blessings come from. Humility is not one of the most prominent traits in our world today. As God prospers us, we should let the world know that it wasn’t by our power nor by our might that brought us our wealth, but it was the Lord that have given us the ability to prosper and be in health even as our souls prosper. As I was having a conversation with another Pastor, we were talking about current events and both of us simultaneously voiced how blessed we are in this great country of America, despite its shortcomings, as opposed to the chaos that is going on across the world today. If you have food on your table, a roof over your head, clothes on your back, health and strength, you’re blessed. God is good to us, “That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust,” Matt. 5:45 (KJV). Our part is to point people to Him by them seeing His character in us, being His witnesses, and testifying of His goodness and His grace.

Matthew 5:46-48 (KJV)
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
