I pray that everyone enjoyed a blessed Thanksgiving celebration. We have much to be thankful for. God is good to us and He’s worthy of all the praise that’s due unto His name. Praise, out of a heart of thanksgiving, is appropriate. I love the Thanksgiving holiday because it is a time set aside particularly to consider the things that He have done for us, and the proper response is the giving of thanks. Of course, we enjoy some great food as well and I don’t think the Lord have no problem with that, but the focus is the giving of thanks and expressing our praise and adoration unto the God of our salvation. The Giver of life and the source of every good gift and every perfect gift, the all-sufficient One, and the lifter of our heads, dwells in the praises of His people. 15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name, Hebrews 13:15 (KJV). If Thanksgiving is the only time that we think
about giving God thanks we are in trouble since the blessings of God are showered down upon us each and every day. We are loaded with benefits daily. 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust, Matthew 5:45 (KJV). His blessings are upon the just and the unjust. He is the awesome God! All in this life necessary to be all that we can be, has already been done for us. He has predestined us for His purposes and plans for our lives and have already, from the foundation of the world, gone ahead of us and illuminated the way for us. He
gave His Spirit to guide us and help us along the path because without God’s Spirit we could do nothing. Thank God for the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, He who empowers us, and His indwelling Presence builds us in Christian character that we may be equipped for the mission set before us. Thank you, Father God, for the life that comes from above. Amen.
