After the many years of being a Christian and most of those years as a leader in the Church, the ekklesia, the called out ones, and the Body of Christ, the one thing that I’m concerned about is the lack of understanding, among those of us who confess Christ as Lord & Savior, of spiritual warfare. And the younger the generation the worst it seems. One of the things that contributes to this dilemma, in my humble opinion, is the influence of the world system which is controlled by the prince of the power of the air, Eph. 2:2. God’s Word warns us against this influence. “Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one’s own resources or in the stability of earthly things] – these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself]. And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides (remains) forever,” 1 Jn. 2:15-17 (AMPLIFIED BIBLE). Spiritual warfare means using spiritual weapons one of which is the sword, the Word of God. A second observation, again, in my humble opinion, is the selfish, self-centered, me, myself, and I mentality of this present generation. Whatever happened to the golden rule of scripture? “So then, whatever you desire that others would do to and for you, even so do also to and for them, for this is (sums up) the Law and the Prophets,” Matt. 7:12 (AMPLIFIED BIBLE). This verse in Matt. 7:12 is the manifestation of the agape love of God in the submitted child of God without which God says we have nothing. “And if I have prophetic powers (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), and understand all the secret truths and mysteries and possess all knowledge, and if I have [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but have not love (God’s love in me) I am nothing (a useless nobody),” 1 Cor. 13:2 (AMPLIFIED BIBLE).
