For the past several weeks I’ve had people share with me stories of tragedies they’ve recently experienced that have had a profound effect on their life and perspective. Some indicated how it influenced them in negative ways such as depression, or seeing the world and life in a more negative light while others refused to let their negative experiences have a negative effect on them. This is what is implied in one of John Maxwell’s sayings, “It’s not what happens to you but what happens in you.” How truthful that statement is since we too have witnessed how differently people respond, react, or handle identical situations. Ps. 23 is one of, if not the most encouraging, inspirational, and influential scriptures during times of challenge, testing, and trials. But a powerful chapter like Ps. 23 is rhema only to them that believe. David said, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.” David can say that because He trusts in his God and all who have faith in God will walk in similar confidence that as long as I have God on my side who can stand against me. And that confidence will shine through even in the storms, rains, winds, and floods. With God and God with us, all things are possible. We cannot ever lose confidence in our God nor in ourselves. That’s why learning to walk by faith is a process that must be taken seriously by the Believer. If one is serious about their faith walk then they will pay attention to details and in particular, the details of God’s Word since Jesus says in Matt. 5:18 (KJV): “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled.” God’s Word is the law and whatever God says, He will do. Remain confident in your God and His Word.
