“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end,” Jer. 29:11 (KJV). God thinks highly of you and I. He loves with an unconditional love and nothing can separate us from the love of God. We are children of the most High and part of the family of God. The Word teaches us that if we being evil know how to give good gifts to our children how much more would the Father give to them that ask. God love us, and we love Him, the brethren, and we love people, but do you know who else God wants us to love? He wants us to love ourselves. For how can we love others and not love ourselves? This is implied in the Lord’s response to the lawyers question in Lk. 10:25-28 (KJV): “And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, what is written in the law? How readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.” “Thy neighbor as thyself” implies you’ve got to love yourself if this statement is to have the proper impact. We see this attitude implied in the golden rule of scripture in Matt. 7:12 (KJV): “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” This scripture would be meaningless if loving yourself was not implied. Everyone of us God has given our unique personalities, dna , purposes, and destinies from the foundation of the world according to Rom. 8:29, 30 (KJV): “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.” We are children of the most High and He imparts a healthy self-esteem and self-confidence into each of our hearts that we should love ourselves as well as others, respecting one another and loving one another even as we respect and love ourselves.
