In our bible study this past Monday we taught from the series titled “The Life & Teachings of Christ,” a powerful transforming teaching on the sufferings of Christ that will change the lives of them that believe. I’m convinced that when Christians truly understand the love of God and the actions prompted by His love it can only result in a fresh appreciation for a loving heavenly Father that the bible says “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life,” Jn. 3:16 (KJV). When you know you are loved unconditionally and the one who loves you unconditionally has your best interest at heart then you don’t have to put on an act or performance to whew them over but you can be yourself knowing that they’re not out to hurt you, harm you, or scandalize your name. As we study “The Life & Teachings of Christ” let us examine how great a love He demonstrated toward the world. He was betrayed by a friend, Ps. 41:9; Matt. 26:47-50. He was pierced in His hands and feet, Ps. 22:16; Lk. 23:33. He was wounded and whipped by His enemies, Is. 53:5; Matt. 27:26. He was sold for thirty pieces of silver, Zech. 11:12; Matt. 26:15. He was spit upon and beaten, Is. 50:6; Matt. 26:67. And then finally the apex of His love is found in Jn. 15:13 (KJV): “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” The part that should have a transforming affect on all that hear it is the revelation that He done all of these things not for Himself, but for you and for I. Then the proof that we are born of God is that His sons and daughters are to walk in that same love as revealed in 1 Jn. 4:17 (KJV): “Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world.” God’s sons and daughters are to grow into His image, like Father like children since we are partakers of His divine nature. Keep the Vision Alive!
