As we enter this Thanksgiving season we have much to be thankful for. In spite of all the political turmoil presently happening in our nation it’s still the greatest nation on this planet. And in spite of the cultural climate and changes away from God the United States of America is still the most free nation on earth where the freedom of religion is being practiced. We should exercise our freedom to worship and pray for the areas in our great country during this Thanksgiving season that are lacking while giving God the praise for all the blessings we enjoy. Daily our Father in Heaven loads us with benefits. Beyond that, for me though, is being thankful to be a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven. The scripture that comes to mind that reminds me of how thankful I must be is found in 2 Tim. 3:15 (KJV): “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” This Thanksgiving season I’m thankful for my Christian heritage passed down to me from my great-grandmother to my grandfather to my father to me and my siblings on my father’s side and from my grandmother and grandfather to my mother to me and my siblings on my mother’s side. From children we were taught that Jesus is Lord but only after being renewed in my mind have I learned to appreciate my Christian heritage. Only after being renewed in my mind have I learned to appreciate my spiritual Father and His love for me, for this country, and for us all. This Thanksgiving season I thank God that He loved us so much.
