2020 has been a year of unforeseen events that have forced us all to revisit what we had established as normal in our country. Where we thought we had made considerable progress we lost ground. Relationships that we assumed were stable turned out to not be the case. Jobs that we thought were secure were not. A virus caused, and still is causing, more deaths in this country than 9/11 and many of the wars that were fought combined. Divisions in this country have become more pronounced, even among those who name the name of Jesus. That has been one of the eye-openers for me, how that even the so-called Church is just as evenly divided along racial lines as unsaved people. But what happened in our government is the most serious breach of trust that I have seen in my lifetime. Lies, conspiracy theories, abuse of authority, manipulation of the citizens of this country from the highest office to many of our government officials have been the most offensive. The consolation that I have as a Believer is that my heavenly Father is omniscient. He knows all things including everything I just shared, before the foundation of the world. His divine wisdom foresaw everything that has happened this year. Do you really think that the God that spoke the worlds into existence did not know these things? He who sustains all life missed these things? The One who keeps the creation balanced and everything stays put where He placed them, missed these things of 2020? Of course, He didn’t. You and I must trust in the wisdom of God and rest assured that regardless of the questions in our minds concerning current events, God is in control. God saw all that happened in 2020 and beyond and gave us His Word. He gave us His Spirit. He dispatched His angels on our behalf. He did His part. Our part is to trust His wisdom.
