In our last message titled, “Order in the Kingdom,” we examined the events surrounding the prodigal son, Lk. 15:11-32, his father, and the elder son. The events of this story present an astonishing analogy drawn between what happened when the younger son left the provisions of his father and took all his inheritance and spent it on riotous living in comparison to those who ignore the order, will, or Word of God. The consequence in each case is devastating. They lead to an end of destruction. It may not be the same destruction but destruction it will be. The purpose of the parable of the prodigal son was to illustrate how the kingdom rejoices over those who were dead (separated from God) but are found. Of course, it’s not God’s will that any should perish but that all should come to a saving knowledge of the truth. That truth being that salvation is extended to all men. We know from the Apostle Peter that God is no respecter of persons but in all nations he that fears God and works righteousness is accepted of Him. One of the highlights of the parable of the prodigal son was when the father revealed to the elder son that as long as he was with his father, he had access to all that his father possessed. That’s powerful. Saints don’t have to be jealous of one another. The elder son should have been excited and glad as well, but he had somewhat of a selfish spirit when he had access to all that his father had as well as his younger brother. Instead of seeing the need of restoration for his younger brother who was lost but was found, he saw it as he was being overlooked when, in actuality, he was not. Gal. 6:1 (KJV) reads: “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.” The key to it all is remaining in the order of God and not allowing the enemy to separate us from His best for our lives.

Scripture for Sunday, 9-11-22
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth, Heb, 11:14 (KJV).
