God loves His people and has always provided a way back to Him if we lose our way, but we don’t have to lose our way if we would just heed to His Word. 1 John 1:9 (KJV):
9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Yet, it’s not our sacrifice that He desires because sacrifice is an admission to sin, but it’s our obedience that God wants,
1 Samuel 15:22 (KJV):
22
And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. To sacrifice under the Old Testament was because of sin, and was admission and repentance from that sin, that’s why the Lord, through the prophet Samuel, rebukes Saul for his disobedience to God and revealing to Saul that obedience is better than sacrifice. In other words, to just do what God commands us is better than the consequences of sin. But we don’t have to fall in the first place,
Jude 1:24 (KJV):
24
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy. 2 Peter 1:10 (KJV):
10
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall.
God says we don’t have to fall, but if we fall, we can get back up again. We don’t have to fall but obey God and see the salvation of the Lord.
1 John 5:14-15 (KJV):
14
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15
And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Again, obedience is better than sacrifice and if we want to walk in the blessings remain in His will,
Joshua 1:8 (KJV):
8
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
