David, the Psalmist, has always been a powerful influencer and Ps. 23 has been one of the most consoling Psalms in the Bible. That Psalm has brought many a Christian through some challenging times. It has brought us through storms, floods, rains, winds, and tumultuous times that all point to how David structured Ps. 23. The Lord, He maketh, He leadeth, Thou rod and Thy staff, Thou preparest a table, Thou anointest my head with oil, all point to the source of our strength and if Believers today are to experience the glory of God in their lives, then we too must acknowledge Him in all our ways. David acknowledged that it was God who was his shepherd, God that makes him to lie down in green pastures, God leads him beside the still waters, God’s rod and staff comforts him, God prepares a table before him in the presence of his enemies, God anoints his head with oil, therefore David gives God all of the praise, glory, and honor. When we understand that Psalm 23 was wrote under the Mosaic Law and that we’re under a better covenant with better promises then we can understand that honor that we have to be in expectancy of an even greater glory under this new and better covenant, Hebrews 8:6 (KJV): 6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. Understanding that Jesus is our Shepherd and His Holy Spirit lives in us to guide us and lead us then we begin a journey of experiencing an even deeper walk and revelation of God. That we are clothe in the righteousness of God and have access to His grace, His favor on our lives, we too would lift up our hands, and open up our mouths, and tell God, “Thank you!” We too can have whatever God says we can have. Go wherever God says we can go. Do whatever God says we can do, and be whoever God says we can be, all to the glory of God. Hallelujah! The spirit of David is still among us in every Believer who will walk by faith and not by sight. It’s our covenant right. Amen!
