God gave His Church the promise of the Holy Spirit because the Father knew that we would need power from on high to live this life for His glory. Without the Holy Spirit we are powerless to Satan, sin, and our flesh, or the human nature and even with the Holy Spirit we struggle in our flesh because we don’t give the Holy Spirit free course in our lives as revealed to us in the Word of God. If we understood the power of God living on the inside of us, we would live life from a totally different perspective because we would have the confidence in the power residing in us to not fear anything in this life because God is with us. Is not that what gave David confidence in the Psalm when he said, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me,” Psalm 23:4 (KJV). Knowing that God was with him was all the confidence that David needed to be able to face even death, why? Because David believed in His God and His Word. Remember what he said when facing Goliath. 1 Samuel 17:45 (KJV): 45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This David did without the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit of which we have. The Church today lives beneath its privilege and power when it comes to the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was there in the creation of all things, Gen. 1:2; Job 26:13; Ps. 104:30; He’s God the Holy Spirit, Acts 5:3, 4; 1 Cor. 3:16, 17; 6:19, 20; The Spirit imparts life, Rom. 8:2; The Holy Spirit redeems, Jn. 3:3-5; Titus 3:5-7; Resurrects, Rom. 8:9-11; Inspires scripture, 2 Tim. 3:15-17; 2 Pet. 1:21; Distributes gifts, 1 Cor. 12:4-11; The Holy Spirit is the overseer over the Churches, Acts 13:1-4; He brings things to our remembrance and teaches and guides into all truth, Jn. 14:16, 17, 26; 15:26; 16:7-15; He guides through daily problems, Rom. 8:14-16; He washes from sin, sanctifies, justifies, 1 Cor. 6:11; The Holy Spirit searches the deep things of God, 1 Cor. 2:10-12; He endues with power, Acts 1:8; He convicts of sin, Jn. 16:7-11; The Holy Spirit imparts love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control to believers, Gal. 5:22, 23; He seals men to divine ownership, Eph. 1:13; 4:30; This is who lives inside of every Believer. He’s the power of God in the earth.
