I keep hearing in my spirit, “It’s our time, It’s our time,” and I ask the Lord, “Lord, if it’s our time then why does it seem like we’re not walking in it?” The Lord reminded me of the caterpillar when it’s in the cocoon. The struggle to break out of the cocoon prepares the caterpillar, now turned butterfly, for flight. The trials of our faith and the tests God will use for a greater good as we trust Him in the midst of them. And as I mentioned in a prior Pastor’s Pen, when we think we’re going through a struggle, rest assured, there’s someone wrestling with much worse. As a matter of fact, right now, as I pen this writing, I received a text from an ex-co-worker and he just shared with me another co-worker of ours had just passed. Many would be glad to have the challenges that we have. I’m not saying that trials and tests feel good while we’re in them, but what I am saying is God will work them together for our good. “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience,” Rom. 5:3 (KJV), or tribulation worketh character. The word tribulation is from the Gr. thlipsis, and it means pressure, afflicted, affliction, anguish, burdened, persecution, tribulation, and trouble. The word patience in this verse is from the Gr. hupomone, and it means endurance, constancy, enduring, patience, patient, continuance, and waiting. It’s the character necessary in this life for everything we will have to confront and get the victory over. It’s also a balanced perspective of life, and not being catapulted to the extreme in one direction or another. “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing,” James 1:2-4 (KJV).
