Today’s message is about Christians having on the whole armor of God if we are to stand in the evil day. These are evil days. We are in spiritual warfare and therefore if we are going to stand, we are going to do it by spiritual means. So, we are to be prepared by the gospel message for this faith journey. The helmet of salvation is knowing and understanding this great salvation. The breastplate of righteousness is the knowledge that Christ is our righteousness and our salvation. Knowing who we are in Christ is key to the Believer’s victory. Above all, making sure your shield of protection, which is your faith, is strong in the Lord. Having the two-edged sword of the Word as your weapon. Though prayer is not symbolized there in Eph. 6:18 as part of the armor, certainly without it the rest of the armor won’t work. I left out one part of the whole armor of God on purpose because I personally think that it is the most violated. In Eph. 6:14 (KJV) the Bible reads: “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth.” Desiring truth, and the truth, should be the aim of everyone who names the name of Jesus. Without it nothing holds up in the armor of God because His Word is truth and if we won’t receive the truth then we won’t receive His Word. John 17:17 (KJV): 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. The Bible is clear that in the end times one of the casualties of the age will be truth. We see the erosion of morality throughout our society and with that the uprising of falsehoods, heresies, conspiracy theories, lies, half-truths, deception, etc. Truth evades them who place their own selfish and self-centered desires over and above what is right regardless of who it hurts or destroys. That’s not the Spirit of Christ. Christ is compassionate, considerate, sacrificing, selfless, and full of grace and truth and those who are His are lovers of the truth. If we want to be on the winning team then we’d better be on the side of truth. Amen!
