In a changing world the Church is uniquely positioned to be a necessary voice in this age of information. The world is moving at warp speed and does not look like the world that I grew up in. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but the biggest concern in my mind is where is God included in all of the change? Israel was warned in Deut. 8 not to forget the God that brought them out of Egyptian bondage and reminded them in Deut. 8:18 (KJV): “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” It’s not that God doesn’t want His people to prosper but that they remember the source of their prosperity and the purpose for that prosperity. Not only is prosperity for meeting the needs of the people but also for promoting the advancing of the kingdom of God and His will in the earth. “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven,” Matt. 6:10 (KJV). The prosperity message is in the Bible but must be taught with purpose, destiny and the will of God. It’s not biblical prosperity if it’s not taught with the will of God in mind. But this world is changing and the one thing that the Church should be doing is taking advantage of this information age, technology advancements, and the increase of travel and use it for the glory of God and the advancement of the kingdom of God on this earth. We can be assured that His kingdom will be established in the earth. “And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever,” Dan. 2:44 (KJV). The Church need not change it’s message, just it’s methods since everything around us is changing, we too should use wisdom and change in order that we be as effective as possible seeing the signs of the times.
