The definition for the word toxic is poisonous, of or caused by a poison or toxin. The word syndrome is defined as a group of symptoms that collectively characterize a disease or disorder. As we continue our message on the end times these two words “toxic syndrome” describe perfectly many of the institutions of our day including our government, our religious institutions, educational institutions, places of employment, and even more personal our family and marriage institutions. All of these can and have been affected by the toxic syndrome spirit of this age. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path,” Ps. 119:105 (KJV). God’s Word is our lifeline in an age where the truth is as an endangered species whereas lying is received as normal and accepted behavior making way for the toxic syndrome atmosphere in the land today. Couple that with the advancements in knowledge and technology, social media, high tech hand held devices that make the world a neighborhood but in the hands of those intent on doing harm to others it can prove to be a weapon used to bully people, character assassinations, threaten people, and a host of other ways that technology can be used against people. Of course these may also be used as tools for good also but that would depend on the condition of the heart of men. That’s really where the toxic syndrome is birth, in the hearts of men, not the objects that men manipulate. “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man,” Mk. 7:21-23 (KJV). This brings me back to the toxic syndrome culture of this present age. Jesus Christ is the only answer to the toxic syndrome mess that we find ourselves in today because Christ deals with the root of the issue, the sin nature. “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing,” Jn. 15:5 (KJV).
