Today is resurrection Sunday, the event where not only was Jesus raised up from the grave, but so were we, Colossians 2:12 (KJV): 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. Since we have been raised up with Christ we are raised up to newness of life, Romans 6:4 (KJV): 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. The Christian’s life is hid in Christ, Colossians 3:3 (KJV): 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. That’s how the Father sees us, hid in Christ. He doesn’t see your past mistakes and God’s not condemning you and I because Romans 10:9-10 (KJV) reads: 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. We live resurrected lives unto Christ now. We’re not our own, but we are bought with a price. The resurrected life is a life of faith in Jesus Christ, Galatians 2:20 (KJV): 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. That resurrected life is the transformed life as revealed in Romans 12:2 (KJV): 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. The word transformed is from the Greek word metamorpho whereas we get our English word metamorphosis which is the change as when a caterpillar is transformed into a butterfly. His inner systems as well as his outer systems are completely changed in the metamorphosis process. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV): 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Being spiritually minded, according to the Word of God, is to be aware of and understanding what the plans and purposes of God are, yielding to those plans and purposes all to His glory. A people humbled in His presence. The only wise and true God be glory and majesty, dominion and power, forever and ever. To know Him is the greatest honor and privilege in this life. We are a blessed people that are called by His name. His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. The Bible reveals that there is another realm that is even more real than the one we see in the natural. The reality of the spirit realm is God’s revelation to man and the possibility of the impossible being unlocked to them that believe. That’s what the generals of the faith teach us in Heb. 11. We too, have access into this realm where the impossible becomes possible. I’m convinced that, for the most part, we, the people of God, have not tapped into the authority and power that are the children’s bread, our covenant rights, paid for by the blood of the Lamb, our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. He paid the price so that you and I could know that this awesome God that we love and serve has yours and my best interest at heart. He not only provides our every need, but He is the guarantee of the covenant. Once we tap into this realm by faith, like many that I call generals of the faith, life becomes that rest because we’ve learned to trust in God more than anything else. He gives us a promise, Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV): 28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. As we seek God concerning the spiritual and the natural, we can find in the Word of God powerful examples of what it takes to have a life that walks by faith and not by sight. The Bible reveals a people committed to a life set apart for the glory of God. They were people just like all other people except they had faith in God. Their faith in God set them apart then and our faith in God sets us apart now. What an encouragement to present-day Believers when they see in God’s Word how saints of old coped with their storms and trials of their faith. They weren’t given anything more special to deal with their tests than what we have. They weren’t given anything except what were their covenant rights and what was considered the children’s bread. Honestly, we are the more blessed as it relates to the Old & New Covenants. We have the better covenant with better promises. We have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of us. The Old Testament saints did not have the blessing of the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit like the New Covenant Church enjoys today. We have more revelation. We’re under grace and not under the law. We are the more blessed because the Old Testament was the New Testament concealed, and the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed. Jesus is our Guarantee of the New Covenant. Ours is the generation with the revelation of the God-man, the Christ, God in the flesh, Immanuel, the second person of the trinity, by whose name is the only name under heaven by which men must be saved. When you and I are faced with impossible odds against us we remain strong realizing that what may be impossible with man is possible with God because all things are possible with the Lord. Faith defies the odds. Matthew 19:26 (KJV): 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. That’s why for the people of God life is always our choice when facing the odds against us. Faith in the Word is our lifeline, 1 John 5:4-5 (KJV): 4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? Regardless of the pressure to follow our senses the mature Christian knows that the only choice is to stand on the promises of God and sometimes those options can seem very blurry which way to go, but the Holy Spirit will help us make the right decisions. He will guide us and lead us into all truth. Our faith is our victory right now, present tense, and our test will always be, will we follow God, or will we follow our senses? The choice is ours. Deuteronomy 30:19 (KJV): 19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live. 1 John 5:14-15 (KJV): 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. The confidence, or assurance that we have in Christ is that whatever we ask God that’s aligned with His Word, then we can believe Him for it and know that we will receive it. Again, the Bible reads in John 14:13-14 (KJV): 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. Asking anything in Jesus name means to ask in the authority of Jesus name in that we have been given the power-of-attorney meaning that when we act in the authority of Jesus it’s as if Jesus was doing it Himself. We have been given the authority to do the works of Christ, Matthew 16:18-19 (KJV): 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. If I can find out what the Word of God says about any situation in my life then I can believe God for that and in expectation look forward to receiving which is what His Word teaches, Mark 11:22-24 (KJV): 22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Proverbs 3:9-10 (KJV): 9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. To honor the Lord with our substance is the fruit of our reverence and respect. When you treat someone as if they are of value to you then they are of value to you. 1 Timothy 5:17 (KJV): 17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. The word honor here in 1 Tim. 5:17 is from the Greek word time, pronounced teemay, and it means a value that is money, paid or valuables. Esteem (especially of the highest degree) or the dignity itself:- honour, precious, price, some. Honor is a word that is becoming extinct in this generation, but still, as students of the Word, it is key to receiving the blessings of God. Ephesians 6:1-3 (KJV): 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. God’s Word promises longevity to them that honor their father and mother. This is what Abraham teaches us when he was returning from war to free his nephew Lot in Gen. 14. Abraham met the high priest Melchizedec. Melchizedec blessed Abraham and the Bible says that Abraham paid tithes unto Melchizedec. There are types and shadows going on in this exchange. Abraham represented the Levitical priesthood and the law that were in his loins, Heb. 7:9, 10. Melchizedec was a type of Christ, Ps. 110:4. Abraham honored Melchizedec when he gave tithes unto him, Heb. 7:4-7, revealing that the ministry of Christ is a more excellent ministry than was the law of Moses, a better covenant with better promises. Todays Pastor’s Pen is dedicated to CCC’s youth and the youth leaders who work with them. Today is youth Sunday, since our first youth Sunday after the pandemic was last first Sunday, and I am excited to see these youth of CCC getting more involved in the ministry. They bring fresh energy and excitement to the ministry. We should instill in them as much of the teachings of Jesus Christ we can while we have them with us. They are precious in the sight of the Lord and should be precious in our sight as well. God have trusted us to be responsible for their spiritual, mental, and physical wellbeing. At one point the Lord warned that it would be better for a man to tie a millstone around his neck and jump into the water and commit suicide than to offend one of these little ones, Matt. 18:6. Practically in every worship service one or more of the youth come up to me sharing their ideas with me or just to say, “Hey Pastor,” but not a service goes by that I don’t interact with them, sometimes several of the youth at one time. I also would like to take this opportunity to encourage all of CCC’s youth to go on CCC’s website at cccwaverly.org and when you come into the home page just scroll down to the bottom of the page and there you will find where you can sign up on our website and that way you will have another way by which you can communicate with myself, Pastor Muchison, and share your ideas or just to shoot-the-breeze with me. As we progress into this year of 2025 the Word of God is clear concerning the times that we find ourselves in. It’s a time of prophecy coming to pass. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit in this generation is a sign of the times. The young men seeing visions, the elder men dreaming dreams, servants and handmaidens receiving the fullness of the Holy Spirit is all coming to pass and this present-day Church is in the midst of all that God is doing in this hour. The plans and purposes of the kingdom do not hinge on the plans and purposes of the world. God’s will shall be done on earth as it is in Heaven. His will for them that believe shall be done and our part is to stay focused on the kingdom. We walk by faith and not by sight regardless of current events. We are blessed. Our children are blessed. Our spouses are blessed. Our families are blessed. Our fellow Christians are blessed. That was the children’s bread under the Old Covenant, Deut. 28:1-14. Yet, we’ve obtained a better covenant with better promises in Christ, Heb. 8:6. The Word is our lamp and light. The Holy Spirit is our guide. Most importantly our personal relationship with God, our fellowship, communion, coupled with prayer, praise, and worship, all of which ensures our understanding of the times, plans, and purposes of God for our generation. As we remain steadfast, unmovable, and always abounding in the work of the Lord, we are reminded of these things while also keeping our loved ones, fellow saints, neighbors, and friends, and even our enemies, lifted up in prayer and believing God that in spite of what it looks like, we don’t walk by what it looks like but by what the Word of God says. Isaiah 55:11 (KJV): 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
