Pastor’s Pen for Sunday, 4-20-25
Today is resurrection Sunday, the event where not only was Jesus raised up from the grave, but so were we, Colossians 2:12 (KJV): 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. Since we have been raised up with Christ we are raised up to newness of life, Romans 6:4 (KJV): 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. The Christian’s life is hid in Christ, Colossians 3:3 (KJV): 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. That’s how the Father sees us, hid in Christ. He doesn’t see your past mistakes and God’s not condemning you and I because Romans 10:9-10 (KJV) reads: 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. We live resurrected lives unto Christ now. We’re not our own, but we are bought with a price. The resurrected life is a life of faith in Jesus Christ, Galatians 2:20 (KJV): 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. That resurrected life is the transformed life as revealed in Romans 12:2 (KJV): 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. The word transformed is from the Greek word metamorpho whereas we get our English word metamorphosis which is the change as when a caterpillar is transformed into a butterfly. His inner systems as well as his outer systems are completely changed in the metamorphosis process. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV): 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. When Jesus was resurrected, so were we, to a new life as unto God and not unto men, Col. 3:23.
