1 John 5:14-15 (KJV): 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. The confidence, or assurance that we have in Christ is that whatever we ask God that’s aligned with His Word, then we can believe Him for it and know that we will receive it. Again, the Bible reads in John 14:13-14 (KJV): 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. Asking anything in Jesus name means to ask in the authority of Jesus name in that we have been given the power-of-attorney meaning that when we act in the authority of Jesus it’s as if Jesus was doing it Himself. We have been given the authority to do the works of Christ, Matthew 16:18-19 (KJV): 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. If I can find out what the Word of God says about any situation in my life then I can believe God for that and in expectation look forward to receiving which is what His Word teaches, Mark 11:22-24 (KJV): 22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. This is the confidence that every Christian has access to in Christ, but whether we walk in it or not is our choice.
