How would Jesus handle present-day culture today? Would He preach fire & brimstone to those not a part of the Body of Christ or would He be more of a rebuke to the Church itself? The Bible is pretty revealing on how Jesus would address this age by comparing how Jesus addressed the society of His day. The Lord always came from a kingdom perspective which is a spiritual perspective. The focus was and is always the spiritual predicament of those He came in contact with. The Lord dealt with the root of man’s problems and not so much as the consequences even though the consequences were looked at as symptoms of a much deeper reality. “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world,” Jn. 1:29 (KJV). Sure, Jesus ministered to the total man, spirit, soul, and body. “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,” 1 Thess. 5:23 (KJV). “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth,” 3 Jn. 3 (KJV). Yet primarily the root of man’s troubles are in the unseen world. “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal,” 2 Cor. 4:18 (KJV). Therefore when Jesus walked this earth his mission was not to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved. “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil,” Jn. 3:17-19 (KJV).
