Just for your information, I want to update friends and partners concerning hernia surgery I just had this past Thursday, 7-23-20. And yes, that’s on top of the surgery I had 2 weeks ago on my right arm for a pinched nerve. I’m doing fine. Both surgeries were quite successful but I am doing the Sunday message, 7-26-20, from my office because of the soreness from the hernia surgery. I appreciate everyone’s prayers and continued support. It’s actually working out pretty good for me to have both surgeries done while furloughed from my job since I would have had to be off work anyway. Sunday’s message is examining the relationships and alliances of David in order that we glean from the successes and failures in these relationships. As with all of us David had some mutually beneficial relationships as well as some toxic relationships. In the message today though, we’re focusing on Jonathan and his father king Saul in particular. We all need mentors, teachers, and friends in our lives. Mentors are like father figures who have permission to correct us and be truthful with us. Teachers speak into our lives guiding us and showing us the way. Friends support us and are there through thick and thin. Toxic relationships rob us of our self-worth, self-esteem, our purpose, and our destiny but like David, we must use wisdom when taking inventory of the relationships in our lives whether they are toxic or mutually beneficial. David and Jonathan’s relationship was close to the point that some try to say their relationship was a homosexual relationship but they were only covenant brothers bonded together by a comradeship second to none. Saul, on the other hand, was a different story. David behaved himself wisely in dealing with them both.
