I pray that everyone’s well and walking in the blessings. In our Bible study this Monday, 8-17-20, we’ll be covering a subject that I believe is a powerful ingredient in a recipe for a deeper and closer relationship with God, fasting. I usually couple fasting together with prayer because I can see praying without fasting but fasting must always be coupled with prayer just because of the nature of the two disciplines. The Body of Christ must pull out everything in its spiritual arsenal against the wiles of the devil since spiritual warfare has intensified throughout the earth. Dark forces are attempting to undermine all that is good in this life. And as usual the poor, the less fortunate, the financially disadvantaged, and those who do not have the wherewithal to make ends meet are all but forgotten about to fend for themselves. We’re in a dark place in our nation and in this present generation but believe it or not there have been worse times. I know that prayer and fasting have been a powerful force in keeping the forces of darkness from advancing any further than they already have. Then we also must do our part in the natural such as voting, getting involved in our communities, our Churches and the like, and contribute as much as possible to doing what’s right if we are to prevail in this hour. As Christians, we have some effective tools at our disposal but we must utilize them. Prayer and fasting are two of those tools that, as we will see in the Bible study on Monday, were used under the Old Testament and the New Testament during some of the most challenging times in the lives of the leaders of that time. As the Body of Christ, we need to tap back into the power of prayer and fasting in these present times. We serve the same God that they served and He’s no respecter of persons.
