This election cycle has revealed some very ugly things about this country, the visible Church, and about what’s truly in the hearts of the citizenship of this country. It has been revealing the past 4 years as our country has wrestled with racial tensions, justice reform, police brutality, protests over the death of African Americans at the hands of police, rioting, looting, COVID-19, and much more. How we as a nation confront these issues shows the maturity of the people and there has been some very ugly behavior from all sides including from Christians. God sees all that is going on in the hearts of men and He sees how Christians are being harmful to other Christians. Whether Christians or not everyone has a right to be treated with decency and respect. Again, I will say now as I have said in the past, that the people of God are first and foremost citizens of heaven and representatives of the kingdom of heaven. What we have witnessed throughout this election cycle is many professing to be Christians more siding with a Democratic or Republican agenda than the agenda of heaven. We will vote one way or the other but if we’re siding with the agenda of heaven we would have to honestly admit there are issues on both sides of the major political parties that are worrisome. But when we overlook the wrongs on the side we choose while pointing out the faults of the other side then we have sided more with that political party than with the kingdom of heaven. Heaven calls right, right and wrong, wrong regardless of who it is. Until good people stand up for right as does the kingdom of heaven then we’ll continue to point out the wrongs on one side while ignoring the faults on the other side. We’ll do the greater good when the Church aligns with heaven and be that lighthouse that it was intended to be.
