“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God,” Mk. 11:22 (KJV). What a powerful commandment from the Lord to His people then and now. Have faith in God! Have faith in God through your storm. Have faith in God on the mountain top. Have faith in God with everything in between. Have faith in God, period! This is the sign of spiritual maturity. It’s just a statement of truth to the child of God who is being renewed in his mind. Through tragedy, rejection, discouragement, heartache, disappointment, loss of a job, and whatever other negative things you may think of, the one thing you hold on to, and that is your faith in God. Like Peter, your faith will keep you afloat during the storm. If we take our eyes off of the One who’s able to keep us from falling then we too, as did Peter, will begin to sink. Bible character after Bible character faced one challenge after another with their faith intact being victorious in the midst of them. Moses and the children of Israel found themselves in an impossible dilemma with the Red Sea in front of them and Pharaoh’s army behind them. “And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will show to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward. But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea,” Ex. 14:13-16 (KJV). Moses and the children of Israel walked over on dry land and the waters returned on top of the pursuing Egyptian army drowning them all. They kept the faith in midst of tragedy and we too will be victorious over our Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea experiences if we would have faith in God.
