“Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil against thee,” 2 Chron. 18:22 (KJV). The prophet Micaiah (pronounced Mee-kaw) was prophesying against king Ahab, king of Israel because of his sin and rebellion against God causing the people of God to sin. Ahab had leagued with king Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, to fight with him against Syria at Ramothgilead. But what king Ahab did not realize was that God was setting him up for failure due to his sins against the Lord. Micaiah’s prophesy was one of the most revealing into the spirit realm in that a conference between God and spirits, which may have included demon spirits, to see how they would persuade king Ahab to go up to Ramothgilead and fall by the hands of the Syrians. In a remarkable interaction one spirit, of which some believe was a demon spirit, said that he would persuade King Ahab by being a lying spirit in the prophets of Baal and encourage him to go up and fight and that spirit prevailed and convinced Ahab to his death at the mouth of a bunch of lying prophets. There is a lying spirit in the land, in this country. It is nauseating to witness the blatant lying in the highest office and officials in our government. Some of these people have no moral compass as it relates to honesty but their lies are dangerous and our elected officials must be held accountable. Lying hurts people. Lying encourages confusion. Lying is wrong and the last time I checked lying is still a sin before God. As Christ’s ambassadors, we are the trumpet of conscience whose voice needs to be heard in this lying generation.
