If there’s a time that we need the truth of God’s Word it’s now. Love without truth is misguided love. Without the truth of God’s Word men become like the days of the judges in the Old Testament where everyone did what was right in their own eyes, Judges 21:25. Just by current events, we can see where that gets us, to a bad place real fast. We need truth, our true north, that illuminates our path going forward. When I say truth I mean the truth of God’s Word. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path,” Ps. 119:105 (KJV). God’s revelation shows man’s true nature and why we are like we are. Without Him, we are left to our own inclinations unleashed. In John Maxwell’s book titled “Developing The Leader Within You” he describes the human nature as not being able to handle unchecked power. No person can be trusted with a blank check, not being accountable to anyone for their actions. I’m reminded of the Jim Jones story and the unbelievable horror of how some 900 people gave one man a blank check and followed him to their deaths. Husbands, wives, their children and grandchildren gave their minds over to another person and in some ungodly, demonic, satanic influenced mindset many willfully drank cyanide poison to their doom. Others were shot. The Bible teaches us to trust God with all our heart, all of our mind, and all of our soul. It does not say to give anyone else that kind of power and influence over our lives. We are to be accountable one to another. “Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God,” Eph. 5:21 (KJV). God never gave men the authority to dominate another man. History teaches us that when it is attempted it doesn’t work out for anyone.
