As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned to appreciate the gems in our lives that sometimes we can take for granted since they’re always there and have been there for some period of time. Now I stop to really take in the moments that I value and the people that I value in my life. Have you ever thought about we only have this one time around in this life and we’re out of here? I want to milk my one time for every good thing I can get out of it. It’s important that we make good memories that we’ll cherish later in life and that will be an encouragement and enjoyment. Trying to rush to this and rush to that without enjoying the journey is a grave mistake. We don’t know what tomorrow holds and should enjoy today with an eye on eternity. You’re blessed to have God center place in your life and to be able to encourage others in the Lord. I’m concerned that many today are not having a genuine transformational experience with the Lord but are experiencing a religious encounter that never transitions into their psyche and their daily lives. My relationship with my Creator is priority and out of that relationship flows love for my relationship with loved ones, friends, & neighbors. But it all starts with my relationship with God of which is most important to me. I see others in His image and therefore respect the way I want to be respected, treat others the way I want to be treated, talk to others the way I want to be talked to, and love others the way I want to be loved. The golden rule of scripture stems out of that foundational truth, Matt. 7:12 (KJV): “ Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” We should appreciate those relationships that have our best interest at heart. Cherish the relationships in our lives that bring joy to our hearts and gladness to our souls. Appreciate those who appreciate you and don’t lose your mind about those who don’t. Leave the door open to reset on relationships gone sour. Be willing to forgive and start over again or pick up where we left off and bring closure to the mistakes of the past. Move on and don’t spend time on negative energy but invest that time in those relationships you value. Amen.
