In Mondays Bible study we talk about God’s love in action in Lk. 15:1-10 whereas the man leaves the 99 sheep to seek the one that is lost demonstrating God’s love in action. Jesus was responding to accusations by the Pharisees that Jesus associated with publicans and sinners as if that was a sin in itself. They were so far away from the heart of God that they didn’t realize that the publicans and sinners were the very ones that Jesus came to seek and draw them back into the fold. The fold being the family of God. We were once not a people unto God but now we are called out of darkness into His marvelous light to show forth His praises. We should never forget from where the Lord has brought us from remembering that we too were as the publicans and sinners. But God changed our lives. If He has done it for us then He’ll do it for whosoever will come unto Him who has a broken heart and a contrite spirit, and the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit will make their abode with him. He demonstrates in word and deed His love towards us. In Rom. 8:32 (KJV) the Bible reads: “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things ?” The Father obviously loved His Son, yet was willing that His Son become the Lamb of God for the sin of the world. This revelation was demonstrated in the account of Abraham and Isaac whereas God commanded Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, his only son, and Abraham was about to carry out what God had commanded him to do and the angel of the Lord stopped him. Abraham had demonstrated that though he loved his son he was willing to sacrifice him in obedience to his God. The Father loved the Son but demonstrates His love for us through the sacrifice of our Lord for our salvation.
