The state of Florida must be storm weary after having back-to-back hurricanes. Helene and Milton hit the state within a two-week period. Insurance companies have exited the state due to the volume of claims in the storm ravaged state making it harder to afford flood insurance in Florida and many don’t have the flood insurance coverage consequently devastating many homeowners financially. Our area has been blessed many times during the past several storms and if you’re like me, I’m very thankful to God for keeping us. I know that there are praying people in Florida and North Carolina as well and our prayers are with those people as lives were lost and much devastation in those and surrounding areas. The one blessed part concerning hurricanes though is our meteorologists have gotten better at predicting the paths of the storms, though Helene caught the meteorologists and the rest of us off guard when it wobbled more easterly than forecasted resulting in the devastation of North Carolina. For the most part though, hurricanes are monitored long in advance of their path of travel and people know that it’s best to be prepared long before the storms approach our area. We’re constantly being encouraged in storm preparation, storm kits, plan of escape route, have extra food, batteries, flashlights, generators, etc. It should be a lesson to us for dealing with the storms of life. You shouldn’t wait until you get into a storm before you do something about it. We should have the Word so down in us that when our trial or test comes, we make the necessary spiritual and emotional adjustments to weather every storm. Matthew chapter six is such a chapter that edifies, builds us up, and brings us comfort knowing that He knows what we have need of.
