I am sure that many of you are breathing somewhat of a sigh of relief after the Tuesday elections even if you didn’t see candidates you may have voted for win. Though there are still ballots being counted, like 2020, I am convinced that this country dodged a bullet. There are forces in this country that are willing to lie, cheat, and steal to hold onto power, and in extreme cases, willing to put others lives in jeopardy. I’m not going to focus on politics in this Pastor’s Pen, but I do want to use the climate of our politics to highlight the focus of my message today titled “It’s Our Time.” In the message we confront how Christians also, can get caught up in the influence of a particular political party over the influence of the kingdom of God. Mature Christians who are built up in Christian character according to Gal. 5:22, 23; 1 Cor. 13:4-8, are balanced Christians who don’t allow the influences of this life to override the influence of the kingdom. They’re strong in their faith. They believe in their God with all their hearts, minds, and strength. They’re built up in their total being spirit, soul, and body. Lord knows we need more mature Christians who can influence the climate of our generation. I’m convinced that the only reason that the bad guys didn’t win during this last election is because there were a few good people who had enough of the circus that has become of our politics and said that enough is enough, but how long before the bad guys have enough of them to pull off their shenanigans, as the politicians would say. If it were not for those with a Christian conscience, this country would be in trouble a long time ago. We need mature Christians to rise up for such a time as this and affect our areas of influence for the kingdom of God. It’s that or let the extreme drag this country down to nothing and us with it, and that’s not happening without a fight.
