Isaiah 55:8-11 (KJV): 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Whenever I find myself not understanding certain details about current events this is one of the scriptures that I stand on. You too may have experienced moments like these as well. We all have been there because, unlike the Lord, we are limited in our abilities. God is not. Here’s where our faith in God compensates for what we lack in the sense realm, but it’s also our greatest challenge. It’s a challenge to be strong enough in your faith to be governed more by what God says than by what your senses relay to you. Here lies the fight between the spirit and the flesh. The victory to walking by faith is to be anchored in the Lord. The word anchored, according to Webster’s New World Dictionary, means: 1. A heavy object, usually an iron weight with flutes, lowered from a vessel, as by cable, to prevent drifting. 2. Anything that gives security by remaining fixed in place or unchanging. That’s how I would describe faith, not drifting, but remaining fixed and unchanging in our trust in the Lord and His Word. To remain flat footed and flint faced in the face of the enemy, circumstances, winds, rains, floods, and storms, standing on the Word of
God. When we’re weak in human strength, then are we strong in divine strength. Even the Lord, when facing the cross, in the Garden of Gethsemane, sweated as if it were drops of blood falling down to the ground, Lk. 22:44. Jesus fulfilled His mission though, giving the example that we too can fulfill ours as well if we remain anchored in the Lord.
