The Lord Jesus Christ is the answer for our generation. I continue to emphasize that the root of man’s problems is sin . Until the sin problem is resolved then we’re only dealing with the symptoms. Until men have an experience with God and genuinely repent and be converted there won’t be any change in their lives that rids the world of the evils that plague it. Christians also must go on beyond the salvation experience and be renewed in their minds if they are to walk in the fullness of their redemption. A redemption that came with a high price for our Savior. “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole,” Is. 53:5 (AMPLIFIED BIBLE). The word wounded in Is. 53:5 is from the Hebrew word chalal meaning to wound, love, slay, & pierce . It refers to piercing the hands, feet and side. The word bruised in Is. 53:5 is from the Hebrew word daka and it means to crumble, beat to pieces, break, bruise, crush, destroy, & smite. It refers to the stripes by scourging, cuts by thorns, and other bodily sufferings and proves that this was part of the work of atonement by which blood was shed. It was by this particular phase of punishment that bodily healing was provided. The Lord laid on Christ the iniquity of us all. The idea is that the iniquities of men fell all at once upon Him and He bore them away. Father God caused the sins of the whole world to meet upon Him. He suffered the judgment for us all. The price for our independence from sin and the bondage to it was great and the greatest honor to Him from us is to reflect that in our lives. “I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship,” Rom. 12:1 (AMPLIFIED BIBLE).
