This Memorial Day weekend I would like for CCC partners to agree with me in prayer for our communities and our nation. I will be posting a Memorial Day prayer video and invite all of the partners of CCC to set aside some time this Memorial Day to agree with me in prayer concerning events that have rocked our community and our nation as well as all around the world. I don’t believe that Solomon’s prayer in 2 Chron. 7:14 was just for that period of time but a principle of prayer that God have given the Church in time of need and will work for Believer’s today. We need to pray against COVID-19 and for wisdom moving forward in the opening of the economy and Church. I’m not putting this congregation at risk not with the confusing messages coming from our government. Our lives will not be the same since this pandemic, but there’s a new way of doing things that we’re just going to have to embrace and make the necessary adjustments going forward. The senseless murder of Ahmaud Arbery by two cowardly men have also rocked our area and robbed a young man of his life and his dreams. It robbed a mother and father of memories future that they will not have the opportunity to experience. They were robbed of the joy of watching their son achieve his purpose and destiny in the earth. Without minimizing the hurt and pain that this incident has caused I am encouraged by the good people from all backgrounds that have been strong in their condemnation and call for justice in this case. The Ahmaud Arbery incident clearly exposed the dangers of generalizing one group in a negative light to the point it manifests in this horrific crime and also the danger of assuming that all people in one group are racist when there have been many visible and loud voices from the white community disgusted with what has gone on in this country. We need much prayer.
