“Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin,” Heb. 12:1-4 (KJV). After honoring the faith walkers of Heb. 11 the Holy Spirit now encourages Believers to lay aside whatever hinders us and to be in a hurry about the business of the kingdom. We look to Jesus who for the joy of redeeming mankind accepted the suffering necessary to endure for our sake. For none of us have been called to shed our blood for man’s redemption as was Christ. And yet we too have been shown what glorious things await us in all eternity as well as in this present time in which we live. Our hearts must be for the things eternal. Just like the joy that was set before Christ that was far more rewarding for us than the sufferings that He must have endured so too are we shown what blessings are set before us that is not even to be compared to the minor sufferings in this life. The Word of God says eye have not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. There’s nothing in this life whether good or bad that will get me off focus from the blessings of God not only in eternity but in this present time. As did Jesus, so should we be mindful of the blessings set before us. This is a common theme throughout the Old and New Testaments encouraging the people of God to always be mindful of eternity and their preparation for it. For then we will be in His Presence and see Him face to face.
