The Holy Spirit is the Church’s secret weapon in this spiritual warfare that we find ourselves in. The ministry of the Holy Spirit is needed as much now as it was under the Old Testament, on the day of Pentecost, and during the early days of the Church when God empowered His Church for the work of the ministry and the edifying of itself. To do the work of ministry, and in particular, the will of God for the body of Christ, we need the Spirit of God and His anointing. We cannot do ministry apart from the Spirit of God. Even Christ means “The Anointed One,” and therefore revealing that our Lord was anointed with the anointing of the Holy Spirit. The word anointing in 1 Jn. 2:20, 27 means an unguent or smearing, i.e. (figurative) the special endowment (“chrism”) of the Holy Spirit :- anointing, unction. In Acts 4:13 the Bible declares that the rulers, elders, and scribes had noted that the apostles were ignorant and unlearned men but also that they had been with Jesus. When you spend time with God, in His Presence, communing with God, in fellowship with Him, and enjoying a personal relationship with Him, His anointing will rub off on you. 2 Corinthians 1:21 (KJV): 21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God. God have anointed His people for the work of the ministry, and He will never fail us nor forsake us, but the Holy Spirit’s anointing is for the work of the ministry, and for building up the individual Believer, not for selfish self-centered desires. The Holy Spirit anointing is for the plans and purposes of God, and even though the gifts and calling of God is without repentance, the anointing is as the Spirit wills and as Michael Chitwood use to say, “And God ain’t gonna bless no mess!” We need God’s anointing, for without the anointing we cannot do what God have called us to do, but with God all things are possible to them that believe.

1 John 2:27 (KJV)
27
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
