In a time when God has been diminished to worshipping when it’s convenient, the body of Christ struggles not to get sucked into the spirit of the age and becoming complacent with the things of God. It’s confusing sometimes as to what men promote as the supreme God because what is being promoted is a biased version of what we think God should be like and not what God is truly like as revealed in His Word. If we want to know what God is like all we have to do is examine the life of Christ. When Phillip asked Jesus to show them the Father the Lord pretty much said “You’re looking at Him.” When we look at the life of Christ, we will see a loving, compassionate Savior who gave His life for the remission of sin and the redemption of mankind. Preaching Christ is to preach the Lord who loves you just as you are but not to leave you that way. The amazing thing about our God is that the Creator of the universe, the omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent God comes to live on the inside of us to lead us, guide us, strengthen us, discern spiritual things, show us things to come, build Christian character, and empower us for the work of ministry and for the plans and purposes of God for our lives. That’s the one huge difference between the true and living God and these false gods that men promote. The God I serve lives on the inside of me. He’s not far away from those who believe but is nigh them that are of a perfect heart and a right spirit towards Him. After the lame man at the gate Beautiful had received his healing and went about praising and glorifying God, Peter explained that men should not look at them as if they healed the lame man but that faith in the name of Jesus made the lame man whole. Today we too preach Christ and His triumph over Satan, death, hell, and the grave. Christ’s exaltation and glorification of the Church is the result of our identification with Him. To God be the glory.
