The people of God are victorious because of the finished work of Christ defeating the enemy and empowering His saints against the forces of darkness. Christ was crucified, died and was buried, was made alive, raised from the dead, and seated on the right hand of the Father with all power in His hands, equipping the Church with authority over all of the power of the enemy. We have been empowered over all of the powers of darkness. We’ve got the victory. This is the posture that every Believer should maintain. We have already won as far as God is concerned. We just have to receive it. We won’t realize that victory though, if we, like Peter, get our eyes off of Christ and on our circumstances. We can learn a lot from Peter’s experience. As long as Peter focused on Jesus and what Jesus spoke to him he walked by faith, but as soon as he got his eyes off of Jesus, the Bible says that he began to sink. Christians must stay highly knowledgeable of the Word of God and also keep the resolve to walk in that revelation. It’s like a doctor who wants to remain relevant in his field of study. In order to remain relevant in his area of expertise he must remain open to receive new knowledge or else he’s going to get left behind. Knowledge is increasing on a daily basis along with everything else and in order that doctors remain on top of their craft they must be on their a-game. For Christians we just need to keep God’s Word in our hearts allowing the Word to become action in our lives. The reason
that Christian should be ever so confident in their faith walk is because Jesus paid it all that we have these covenant rights. He fights for us. From Genesis to Revelation God fights for His people. He fights for us and He defeats the enemy for us and then lives in us to empower us, lead us, and guide us into all truth. The truth will make us free. The truth is that the devil is defeated, Jesus is exalted, and God is glorified, and we have the victory.
