James 1:17 (KJV):
17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
We are blessed and every day should be thankful unto God. Everything good in our lives comes from above. Every day that God gives us is a blessing, especially so when those days find you in good health, your needs supplied, and in your right mind. God, I thank you. You are the source of every good thing in our lives and praise unto you is in order. The verse, James 1:17, calls God the Father of lights. The word light here in James 1:17 is from the Greek word phos, and it means to
shine or make manifest especially by rays. Luminousness (in the widest application natural or artificial, abstract or concrete, literal or figurative):- fire, light.
In this verse it’s figurative in expressing that every good thing, righteous thing, holy thing, all that is right and good originated from God and He is the source of all that is good. If we’re going to boast let us boast of His goodness, His mercy, and His grace. God is good and His mercy endureth to all generations. No flesh will glory in His presence but He gets all the praise, all the glory, and all the honor. As the Word says in
John 1:4-5 (KJV):
4
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
God help us to understand that if we have learned to appreciate the light of the kingdom of God in our lives then we are blessed. We’re living in a generation where less and less have people learned that and God help the next generation because they’re going to need it. Thank God for the generation before us who let their light shine and influenced many into a saving knowledge.
Proverbs 11:30 (KJV):
30
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 (KJV)
3
But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
