1 Corinthians 13:13 (KJV): 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. Life and time have their way of teaching us lessons that have a lasting impression on the psyche. When we look at our world today and all of the evil that has
become a part of normal experience presently it seems that mankind as a whole have accepted these as normal. Murders, kidnappings, hate crimes, crooked politics, bad leaders, bad government, and all of the other ills in our society today lacks the one ingredient that would eradicate all of these including much of the sickness, poverty, disease, and sufferings of man that we have the wherewithal to get rid of in this generation. We have the technology, the information, the knowledge, the tools, but not the resolve to rid this world of much of the ills that it suffers because men are lacking when it comes to the subject of love. In his writings Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote “As long as there is poverty in the world, I can never be rich, even if I have a billion dollars. As long as diseases are rampant and millions of people in this world cannot expect to live more than twenty-eight or thirty years, I can never be totally healthy even if I just got a good checkup at Mayo Clinic. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the way our world is made. No individual or nation can stand out boasting of being independent. We are interdependent.” Of course, Dr. King’s writings are based on an attitude of love which is selfless and compassionate of others especially of those who are less fortunate. Men are hard hearted now. Compassion for others is all but gone. There is little respect for much of anything in our time and the greatest motivator for this is selfishness, the opposite of love. Love is the answer for our world today and that love comes from Heaven in the person of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 13:3 (KJV): 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
